Keybookshop.com Interview

By Interviewer at 03/21/08 22:20

Name of your website?

Keybookshop.com

Your name?

Kevin Sheppard

Your Location (city, etc)

Cory, CO

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Keybookshop.com offers teachers, students, and parents access to nearly 10,000 educational ebooks and digital resources covering all areas including math, reading, language arts, social studies, science, and teacher materials.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

We saw the wonderful opportunity that ebooks can bring to education and wanted to be a part of that process.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

Our first website was www.kevlors.com, which was created in 1997.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

It is a combination of ebook and shop and the letter K which is a favorite for names in our family.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

We believe we offer an excellent combination of selection, with nearly 10,000 titles, customer service, and a personal touch.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Our goal is to continue to see the site grow and to provide enough income to support our family.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

With patience and consistent effort, we are seeing our efforts rewarded.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

We would spend more on advertisement and promotion.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

We believe we have the resources in place to grow with demand.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Learning about all the things we don't know is the hardest thing to deal with.

What has been your biggest challenge?

The biggest challenge is to find ways to bring visitors to the site.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Consistent word of mouth and personal contact has been the best promotion strategy.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It is hard not to expect instant traffic and success.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

We have been running the site for nearly 3 years and don't expect to stop anytime soon.

What is your website address?
