Please give us a short summary of your website?
The site offers how to and informational resources for nonfiction writers. From writing research papers to crafting a strong paragraph, we are working to cover all of the bases.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
Most of the websites for writers are geared toward writing fiction. It is hard to find solid information for the nonfiction writer. Since this is what I prefer to write, I felt it was the right direction to go with a site.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I wanted the name of the site to make clear exactly what it was about. Short, sweet and to the point.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
My site is about helping other writers of nonfiction improve their craft. It is also to give them the tools they need to make a living with their passion, including tips for running their own business and ways to get started.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Ultimately, I want the site to become one of the premier sites writers can turn to for information and guidance. Yes, I do want it to make me an income, but that is secondary to giving nonfiction writers a place of their own on the web.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
The only change is that I would not have to go to a full time job, and would be able to spend more time creating valuable content and tools to offer my visitors.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes. If I struggled, I would ask for help. But bandwidth is not an issue. Bring on the really big, really quick. I'd love to experience it to see how I do.
What has been your biggest challenge?
My biggest challenge is making sure that the material I provide is the best it can be. This makes growing the site a slower process than if I just slapped whatever came to mind onto it. Since I work full time and have a family, I cannot build as quickly as I might like.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
The site is new - launched in December, 2008. I am not in a hurry for big traffic gains or monetary success. I want to build something I am proud of and believe in. The rest will take care of itself.
