Center for Learning Interview

By Interviewer at 04/12/09 17:13

Name of your website?

Center for Learning

Your name?

Connie

Your Location (city, etc)

Los Angeles

Please give us a short summary of your website?

My website offers two areas of interest: educational therapy and psychotherapy. I work with children Pk-8 who benefit from multisensory strategies for enhanced learning. I also work with seniors who wish to increase their creativity as a counselor.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

After 20 some years of working with students of all ages, to approach learning differences with positive strategies, I also want to expand my interest in creative writing, prose and poetry, photography and journaling by bringing it into the therapeutic areas.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

I have had 2 websites, this is my only one now. I am not as pleased with the pictures they have provided, but it was the best of the lot.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

It is the name of my true business. Originally I had: The Center for Prevention of Learning Difficulties.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

Many psychotherapists have little background in with a wide variety of different learning styles when communicating with all ages from pre-kindergarten to senior citizen. My website offers both educational and psychological paths for learning.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To continue to widen clients awareness of living in the here and now and becoming more creative than they thought possible.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

I have more successful students and clients, yet I devote more time and money than I probably should for a balance. I am an artist first and foremost and not really into working with people for money.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would have a large office with a room full of art materials, a beautiful quiet corner for meditation, a complete sand tray experience for all ages, and a large library for lending books. I would like to run my own educational establishment.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

I am a born optimist and I would climb mountains by hiring the best people in both industries to share the wealth of clients with me.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

I have had to maintain a small office due to financial burdens.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Finding clients who understand that life-long learning is essential to a sense of joy in life.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Word of mouth rather than advertisements.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It is very easy to run.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

About 3 years and I will keep it up until I decide to retire.

What is your background working with seniors?

I have taught seminars and classes in two different centers with excellent results. I also have a preference of working with seniors who wish to increase their awareness in life by psychotherapy.

What is your website address?
